Westmont D-201 schools released early after power outages

WESTMONT - District 201 in Westmont released its students at about 10:15 a.m. Thursday after losing power at several schools.

In a letter to parents, District 201 Superintendent Kevin Carey thanks parents for their patience after deciding to hold school only to let students out early.

The decision was made after ComEd was unable to provide the district with an answer as to when the schools would have power again, according to Carey.

"In addition, as the morning progressed, the district was notified of additional street closures and the real possibility that to wait until the end of the school day to dismiss students, would impact our ability to safely transport students home," Carey wrote.
