Longtime Glenbard District 87 employee Sandra Coughlin will become the principal at Glenbard South High School in July after her appointment was approved by board members Monday.

GLEN ELLYN – The appointment of longtime Glenbard District 87 employee Sandra Coughlin as Glenbard South High School's next principal was approved by the Board of Education Monday.

Coughlin will become principal July 1 when current Glenbard South Principal Terri Hanrahan becomes the district's teaching and learning coordinator and Title I facilitator.

Coughlin has served as the assistant principal for instruction at Glenbard East High School since 2011. She was the district's literacy and Title I coordinator from 2007 until 2011, and from 1996 until 2007, she worked as a literacy instructional coach, reading specialist and family and consumer science teacher at Glenbard East.

Coughlin's educational background includes an administrative leadership certification from North Central College and bachelor's and master's degrees from Southern Illinois University.

“I am extremely proud to have served the Glenbard District for 17 years. My experiences in various roles have prepared me to be the next principal at Glenbard South,” Coughlin said. “South has an excellent academic reputation with dedicated students and staff, and I look forward to building upon that standard of excellence through leadership and communication. Getting to know the students, staff, families and community members will be one of my first priorities.”
