Published: Tuesday, May 28, 2013 11:54 a.m. CDT

LA GRANGE – Live bands made up of local youth will line the route of the La Grange Rocks 5K Run/Walk June 7.

The event will raise money for The LeaderShop, an agency that engages youth in Lyons and southern Proviso Townships to make a difference in their communities.

The bands will also perform at a post-race party. There are three races: a one-lap race for kids 7 and under; a one-mile race for kids 11 and under; and a 5K Run/Walk for all others. Medals will be given for all races, which start and finish at Lyons Township High School’s North Campus, 100 S. Brainard Ave.

Participants can register online at www.theleadershop.org or by printing out a form from the website. Race packets and T-shirts can be picked up from noon to 8 p.m. June 5 and 6 at The Runner’s Soul, 5 S. La Grange Road, or on race day until 6:30 p.m. at the registration area.

Day of race registration is from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the race site. The race costs $35 for individuals, but members of Chicago Area Runners Association receive a $3 discount. The cost will be $80 for families of up to 4 members and $20 for kids.
