WHEATON – A Wheaton appellate judge will be recognized by the Illinois State Bar Association for her work on the impact of law school debt, according to a release from the ISBA.

The Hon. Ann B. Jorgensen of the Second District will receive the 2013 Board of Governor's Award at the organization's 137th Annual Meeting on June 21 in Lake Geneva, Wisc. The release said that the award is given to ISBA members for significant service to the profession and the public.

Jorgensen is receiving the award for her work as a co-chair of a special committee studying the impact of law school debt on the delivery of legal services. It was created to examine the educational debt burden faced by new lawyers as they begin their careers and how that impacts the delivery of legal services. An ISBA report showing that high law-school debt hurts the profession and the public will be voted on by the ISBA’s policy-making assembly on June 22.
