LOMBARD – The Village of Lombard is currently accepting nominations for the annual Senior of the Year award, which will be presented Oct. 2 at the village's Senior Fair.

This is the eighth year the Senior of the Year award will be given and was started by late Village President Bill Mueller and the Community Relations Committee. The award is to recognize local, outstanding seniors who have made valuable contributions to the community.

Nominees must have Lombard mailing addresses and be at least 65 years old. To nominate a local senior, send a 50-word statement to the village by Sept. 1 explaining why the person deserves the award.

All nominations will be reviewed by the Community Relations Committee and the winner of the Senior of the Year award will be honored by riding in the 2014 Lilac Parade.

Nominations can be mailed to Village of Lombard, Village Manager's Office, Attn: Senior of the Year, 255 E. Wilson Ave., Lombard, IL 60148 or emailed to doyleb@villageoflombard.org.
