Gunter: New program encourages community to put 'Westmont First'

On behalf of the Westmont Village Board, we want you to know that we are eager to work with you to make our village the very best it can be.

Working together as a team for the common good of the entire community, we will succeed.

Trustee Bruce Barker has been working hard the past few months developing a new program called “Westmont First.”

The theme behind this is simple, but important – we want to encourage our community to think Westmont first in everything you do. What benefits our town? How can we make it better?

Westmont First asks residents to get involved and participate in the community. There are many volunteer opportunities through the schools, churches, community events, Emergency Management Agency (EMA), People’s Resource Center and more.

People being active in their town fosters community bonding, which is very important.

Westmont First also asks everyone to consider Westmont businesses first. If you have the ability to use a Westmont business for your products and/or services, then be sure to support your local business community.

By taking on this mindset, you will not only be giving patronage to a local business, but you will be generating tax revenue that comes right back to support our vital village services.

We encourage the community to support Westmont First. To learn more and sign up, visit WestmontFirst.com.

I strongly believe that if we work as a team to find solutions, then we will achieve our goals.

Please feel free to contact me at rgunter@westmont.il.gov or 630-981-6201 regarding any idea, question or concern.  I look forward to working with you.
