Stickney celebrates Centennial this weekend

STICKNEY – Stickney is throwing a birthday party for itself to celebrate its 100th birthday with rides, food, live music, fireworks and more on Friday through Sunday.

The Stickney Family Days Centennial Celebration will be held from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. Friday; noon to 10:30 p.m. Saturday; and noon to 9 p.m, Sunday, at Veterans Park, 43rd and Ridgeland Ave.

This event will replace the “Family Day” celebration originally scheduled for Labor Day weekend. The festival will feature a carnival, food vendors, live bands and fireworks

A Mega Pass is available for unlimited rides the entire weekend at a cost of $45. Passes are available at the Stickney Village Hall until Thursday.

An Unlimited Ride Pass is being offered $20 and can be used only from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday. Those passes are available at the carnival ticket booth.

Food vendors include Villa Nova Pizza & Beef, Taqueria Birreria Mexican Restaurant, and Brando's Beef. Fruit smoothies will also be offered.
