LISLE – This year's Barkapalooza fest – the West Suburban Humane Society's primary annual fundraiser for dogs and their owners – is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 29 at Lisle's Community Park.

The dog-friendly event includes food, fun, music and a free goody bag for dogs. Registration is $15 prior to Sept. 20, $20 after. Children under 12 are free.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the park, 1825 Short St. in Lisle.

Pet lovers will also have the chance to raise money for homeless pets through a "Dog Walkathon."

Participants are encouraged to collect pledges for the walk, and all proceeds will support the West Suburban Humane Society.

Other festival events include a pet expo, micro chipping, pet blessing and clowns and face painting for the kids.
