Cicero celebrates Mexican Independence Day

CICERO - Cicero will pay tribute to and celebrate Mexican Independence Day with a host of events this week.

A festival will be held Friday through Sunday, Sept. 13 to 15, at Community Park, 34th Street and Laramie Avenue.

On Friday, a dramatization of La Pason de Hildago will be held at 7 p.m. at Morton East High School, 2423 S. Austin Ave.

The Cicero Mexican Independence Parade will be held from noon to 2 p.m.Sunday. The parade starts at 59th Court and Cermak Road, and travels west on Cermak Road to 50th Ave.

At 2:30 p.m., Cicero officials, the Cicero Mexican Cultural Committee and Mexican Consulate Carlos Jimenez Macias will host a reception at the Community Center, 2250 S. 49th Ave.

El Grito will perform from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Community Park.
