Lemont police holding exotic bird

Published: Monday, Sept. 9, 2013 5:32 p.m. CDT

LEMONT – The Lemont Police Department is looking for the owner of an exotic bird found at 6 p.m. Sept. 7 on Hilltop Court.

Chief Kevin Shaughnessy said a resident called the police to let them know that the bird had been found and was being held in a box.

Shaughnessy said the bird does not appear to be able to fly. Until they can find the owner or a home for the bird, police are trying to figure out how to care for the bird.

"We've never had, to my knowledge, an exotic bird that has been brought to us," he said.

For more information, call the police department at 630-257-2229.
