MetroMentors, a school-based youth mentoring program, is seeking adult mentors to work with children in DuPage County, according to a news release from the program.

The program matches children in grades one through eight who are at risk academically, socially or emotionally with volunteer mentors who meet with the child at their school for an hour once a week, according to the MetroMentors website. Activities include eating lunch together, school assignments, reading and talking.

The release said that volunteers are particularly in need in Burr Ridge, Downers Grove, Naperville, Wheaton, Willowbrook, Winfield and Woodridge.
