DOWNERS GROVE – DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin charged Kyle McCreedy, 19, 6524 Briargate Drive, Downers Grove with one count of arson, a Class 2 felony, for allegedly setting fire to the concession pavilion and washroom at the Downers Grove Park District’s McCollum Park.

McCreedy turned himself in to authorities Wednesday afternoon and was released on bail after posting 10 percent of $50,000.

McCreedy allegedly entered the park, 6801 Main St., at 11 p.m. July 2 and set fire to the structure. An investigation led by the Downers Grove Police Department led authorities to McCreedy.

Damage to the structure is estimated at approximately $20,000.

McCreedy’s next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 14 in front of Judge Daniel Guerin.
