LA GRANGE

Two burglary attempts on La Grange Road

Pry marks were found on the door at the AT&T store at 1 N. La Grange Road after the store’s burglary alarm was activated at 3:15 a.m. Four minutes later, the alarm at a business in the 500 block of South La Grange Road was activated after the front door was shattered. A resident across the street said she saw three men trying to break into the store and started screaming. The men drove off in a dark-colored minivan, she said.

Driving without license

Raful Ocampo, 36, of the 5400 block of South Kenneth Avenue, Chicago, was charged with driving without a license at 9:21 a.m. Sept. 25 at 47th Street and Stone Avenue.

Woman groped

while jogging

A woman reported that a man on a bike groped her while she was jogging near Goodman and Eighth Avenue at 8:07 a.m. Sept. 22.

Boy points pocket knife at girl

A mother reported that a boy pointed a pocket knife at her daughter at 3:24 p.m. Sept. 20.

Car scratched

A car parked in the 800 block of Arlington Avenue was scratched late Sept. 20 or early Sept. 21, a resident reported at 12:32 p.m. Sept. 21.

Plant stolen

A plant and pot were stolen from a yard in the 100 block of Stone Avenue, a resident reported at 3:28 p.m. Sept. 23.

LA GRANGE PARK

DUI

Anthony Vroutsis, 51, of the 100 block of East Altgeld Avenue, Glendale Heights, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding after being pulled over at La Grange Road and Brewster Avenue for speeding. He was driving 74 mph in a 30-mph zone.

Assault, disorderly conduct

Sami Merabet, 51, of the 1200 block of Morgan Avenue, was charged with assault and disorderly conduct after threatening to physically harm a resident who wanted him to move his van. Merabet admitted to threatening the man. His court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 9.

Warrant arrest

Armando J. Matos, 20, of the 4300 block of Fisherman Place, Lyons, was arrested at 7:34 p.m. Sept. 25 in the 9100 block of Cermak Road in North Riverside on a warrant out of La Grange Park for failing to appear in court for a disorderly conduct charge. His court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 23.

Driving without license

Celedonio Chaga, 40, of the 4300 block of West 25th Place, Chicago, was charged with driving without a license after being pulled over for speeding in the 300 block of La Grange Road at 6:39 p.m. Sept. 23.

Criminal damage to property

A window on the back side of a vacant home in the 1000 block of Barnsdale Road was broken between Sept. 18 and 21. The glass did not shatter, and no entry was made.

Criminal damage to vehicle

A vehicle parked in the 1200 block of La Grange Road was scratched with a sharp object late Sept. 14 or early Sept. 15. The scratch was approximately three feet long.

WESTERN SPRINGS

Criminal damage to property

• Two landscaping lights were removed from the ground outside a residence in the 300 block of Burlington Avenue between 10 p.m. Sept. 20 and 11 a.m. Sept. 21. The lights had an estimated value of $200.

• A rock was thrown through a window of a vacant residence in the 4600 block of Central Avenue on an unknown date. The window had an estimated value of $300.

WESTCHESTER

Two charged with theft

Brandon Ivory, 27, and Jonathan Ivory, 24, both of the 700 block of Newcastle Avenue, were charged with theft at 7:29 p.m. Sept. 17 for an alleged theft that occurred Aug. 17 in the 1600 block of Mannheim Road.

Teen charged for stealing cell phone

A 17-year-old Westchester boy was charged with robbery after allegedly stealing a cell phone at Canterbury Street and Mayfair Avenue, as reported at 5:19 p.m. Sept. 16.

Catalytic converter stolen from vehicle

A catalytic converter was removed from a vehicle parked in a lot in the 0-100 block of Westbrook Court between 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Sept. 16.

Garage damaged by pellet gun

A resident in the 11100 block of Shaw Street reported that someone damaged his garage and garage window by shooting it with a pellet gun at 2:44 p.m. Sept. 18.

Watches taken from home

A resident in the 2900 block of Denton Court reported that two watches were taken from her bedroom between 1:15 p.m. Sept. 18 and 9:54 a.m. Sept. 19.

COUNTRYSIDE

DUI

• Pedro Ramos, 43, of Crete, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane usage after a traffic stop in the 6500 block of La Grange Road at 1:10 a.m. Sept. 23.

• Kevin Gerardy, 30, of the 11200 block of First Street, Mokena, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol Sept. 19 after police found him slumped over in the front seat of his car, which was situated on top of a cement parking block in a parking lot in the 6000 block of South La Grange Road.

Retail theft

Tina Chierico, 33, of the 8400 block of Willow West Drive, Willow Springs, was charged with retail theft Sept. 19 after stealing $313 in merchandise from the Home Depot at 140 Countryside Plaza. Anthony Lyles, 48, of the 1800 block of South Kildare Avenue, Chicago, was charged with obstruction after attempting to intervene while security chased Chierico as she ran away from the store. Lyles was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Criminal damage to property

Several landscaping lights at a condominium building on the Fifth Avenue Cutoff were pulled from the ground and damaged between 7:30 p.m. Sept. 16 and 7 a.m. Sept. 17.

Driving without license

Oscar Galindo, 34, of the 300 block of North Larkin Avenue, Joliet, was charged with driving without a license and making an improper turn after a traffic stop Sept. 18 at 63rd Street and La Grange Road.
