Hasty is one of 36 U.S. Marine Silent Drill Platoon members, and his younger sisters are students at St. Pius X. During the presentation, he told the students about his background and about his duties serving as a member of the Marine Barracks in Washington D.C., which is the oldest active Marine Corps post. “Lance Cpl. Hasty told the students all about himself and answered many, many of their questions about his role in the Silent Drill Platoon,” said Tracy Pohl, a fifth-grade teacher. “It was truly a great honor for our students to be visited by him after reflecting on 9/11.”
