BERWYN - Lincoln Middle School eighth-graders from Berwyn will knock out 10 kilometers at the Morton West High School track for the middle school's 10th annual UCP Seguin 10K fundraiser at 9 a.m. Saturday.

Close to 350 Lincoln students are hoping to raise $10,000 for UCP Seguin – bringing their 10-year total to more than $85,000 to benefit individuals with disabilities and other special needs served by UCP Seguin.

For the past 10 years, The eighth grade students have participated in UCP Seguin’s Youth Leadership & Disability Awareness program. This unit is designed to promote acceptance and understanding of individuals with developmental disabilities and other special needs.

As part of their unit, Lincoln students host a pizza party and dance for UCP Seguin program participants, attend a guest lecture by author June Rae Wood and solicit donations from family and friends to support innovative programs and services offered by UCP Seguin. Previous 10K walks have raised funds to help equip a fitness center at UCP Seguin’s Carr Center in Cicero.

Opportunities to sponsor this event are still available. To become a sponsor or for more information, call Kelley Currier at 708-222-5143m or by visiting www.seguin.org.
