Published: Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013 9:00 a.m. CDT

Community Consolidated School District 89's Briar Glen Elementary School in Wheaton will collect clothing and shoes throughout November as part of USAgain's America Recycles Day.

The school is participating in the program hosted by the West Chicago textile recycling company to raise funds and spread environmental awareness.

For every pound of textiles collected at Briar Glen, the school will earn money through USAgain’s “Greenraiser” fundraising program. The top five collecting schools will earn cash prizes of $1,000, $750, $500, $250 and $100.

Any money earned by Briar Glen will be used to purchase classroom technology.

Clothing will be collected Nov. 1 through 30 at the north end of the Briar Glen parking lot, 1800 Briarcliffe Blvd. in Wheaton.

For more information, call the Briar Glen office at 630-545-3300.
