Annual Dan Gibbons Turkey Trot changes course

ELMHURST – The 30th annual Dan Gibbons Turkey Trot has moved its route to accommodate a growing number of participants.

The 5K will start at Adell Place and Park Avenue just east of the post office, wind through downtown and pass the Veteran's Memorial in Wilder Park before reaching the finish line in front of the Elmhurst College Library.

The annual fun run hosts thousands of runners, joggers and walkers each year to raise money for the hungry of DuPage County.

The run starts at 9 a.m. Nov. 28. Shuttle buses will be available to bring participants to the start line from York High School, Sandburg Middle School and the U.S. Bank at York and Vallette streets beginning at 7 a.m.

Registration is $30 before the race and $35 the day of. Participants can register online until 9 p.m. Nov. 26, in person at the Knights of Columbus, 53 S. York St., between 1 and 5 p.m. Nov. 23 or by mail. Mailed in registration forms are available online and can be sent to Annual Turkey Trot, P.O. Box 1182, Elmhurst, IL 60126.

The Turkey Trot benefits Loaves and Fishes Community Pantry, West Suburban Community Pantry, People's Resource Center, United Community Concerns Association, Catholic Charities-DuPage, DuPage PADS, DuPage Senior Citizens Council, Elmhurst Walk-In Ministry and the Elmhurst/Yorkfield Food Pantry.
