ELMHURST – The six recently elected members of the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce & Industry Board of Directors include two first-term directors.

Mike Carson, owner of Carson Closets & Cabinetry, and Kevin Kost, investment representative with Edward Jones Investments, were elected to their three-year terms as directors for the first time.

Mary Ahart, sales representative with Matrix Credit Card Processing; Jackie Hayden, newly hired as an independent insurance agent and partner at Delta RMS; Paul Koch, partner and general manager at Larry Roesch Chrysler Jeep Dodge; and Dare Messina, real estate agent with L.W. Reedy Real Estate, were all elected to their second term as directors.

In an effort to recruit candidates with board-specific skills, the chamber recently adopted changes to its by-laws that required a nonboard nominating committee to slate directors.

The nominating committee was comprised of five past board chairs, including  Scott Levin of Howard & Howard, Jason Janes of Edward Jones Investments, Debra Catalano of Catalano & Associates, Cathy Bajkowski of CB Health Insurance and Rich Reichert of Community Bank of Elmhurst.

The inaugural slate ran uncontested, with no chamber member filing the required petition to run for election.
