Westchester police to crack down on St. Pat's holiday drivers

Published: Thursday, March 6, 2014 6:15 p.m. CDT

WESTCHESTER – In anticipation of this year's St. Patrick's Day celebrations, the Westchester Police Department will perform special patrols to target drunk driving and unbuckled motorists.

Lt. Jeff Mersch said residents who are planning on drinking alcohol should designate a sober driver before celebrating.

From March 13 through 17, the police department will be working overtime at roadside safety checks and seatbelt enforcement zones. Along with having a sober driver and keeping friends from driving drunk, the department released other tips, including calling a cab, asking a family member for a ride home or spending the night where you'll be partying.
