Women in Need Growing Stronger (WINGS), a local women's and children's group, will host its annual Taste Takes Flight fundraiser April 3 in Hoffman Estates. Proceeds will benefit victims of domestic violence.

HOFFMAN ESTATES – The 2014 Taste Takes Flight event to benefit the Barrington-area Women in Need Growing Stronger (WINGS) organization will be from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. April 3 at the Chicago Marriott Northwest, 4800 Hoffman Blvd., Hoffman Estates.

Attendees may sample food from more than 15 local restaurants and chefs, as well as wine and spirits from the House of Wine and Cheese and chocolates from Anderson's Candy Shop.

Chefs and restaurants for this event include BOKA, the Baking Institute, Butera Market, Carnivale, Chessie’s, Francesca’s Famiglia, Fortune Fish and Gourmet, Fresco 21, L’eiffel Bistrot and Creperie, Mago Grill and Cantina, Makray Memorial Golf Club, Marriott Chicago Northwest, McGonigal’s Pub, the Annex, NEAR, the Rosewood Restaurant and Banquets, Starbucks Barrington, Wild Asparagus, Wok N Fire and Wynstone Golf Club.

Proceeds will benefit women and children who are victims of domestic violence. Last year’s event raised more than $60,000 in support of WINGS’ Safe House. Money raised this year will support the Building Safer Futures campaign, which is focused on shelter beds. WINGS will take its current safe house to full capacity, according to a press release.

Additionally, WINGS has partnered with Metropolitan Family Services and Greater Southwest Development Corporation to build the first interim housing shelter in Chicago in 10 years, according to the release.

Tickets are $125 a person or $1,250 for a table of 10. There will be both a silent and live auction. For information, visit www.wingsprogam.com or call 847-519-7820.
