WESTERN SPRINGS – An eighth-grader from McClure Junior High was recently named one of 12 winners at the annual All-American Boys and Girls Award Ceremony this March.

The ceremony, hosted by Rep. Dan Lipinski, D-Western Springs, was held for seventh- and eighth-grade students at the Sabre Room in Hickory Hills. One hundred finalists formally interviewed before a panel of judges, who then chose the winners – three boys and three girls from each grade.

Jeffrey Vitek, from McClure Junior High, was one of the eighth-grade winners, along with Nikolas Anaya from Bridgeport Catholic Academy; Frank Gomilk from SS. Cyril & Methodius; Hannah Heppner from St. Christina; Elizabeth Stehlik from St. Daniel The Prophet; and Patricia Ann Tichy from Clissold Elementary.

The seventh-grade winners were Austin Monaco from Santa Lucia; Christopher Neary from St. Cajetan; Sabastian Alander Sawicki from Simmons Middle School; Ariana Ascencio from St. Rene; Sadie Reese from St. Cajetan; and Kayla Grover from Liberty Junior High.
