LEMONT – One successful weekend of wrestling will hopefully segue into more of the same for Drew Nash and Frankie Montalto.

Both wrestlers had successful sectional tournaments last weekend and will wrestle at the Illinois Kids Wrestling Association state finals today and Saturday at the BMO Harris Bank Center in Rockford.

Nash went 2-1 and placed second at the 89-pound novice (11- to 12-year old) division at last weekend’s IKWF Central Chicago sectional at Mount Carmel High School. Montalto was also 2-1 and placed second at 122 pounds.

Nash improved to 29-16 on the year with 16 pins, while Montalto, a first year wrestler, upped his record to 13-5 on the year with six pins.

Several other Lemont Bears wrestlers just missed qualifying for state by finishing fourth at the sectional.

Sam Andreotti was fourth in the 74-pound novice level, and Apollo Gothard had the same finish in the 115 novice bracket.

Paul McGrath (74-pound senior division) and Terry Kolacki (138-pound senior) were also fourth.
