WESTCHESTER – The Westchester Public Library recently announced it received the Illinois State Library's Another Opportunity for Back 2 Books grant.

The $2,500 award will be used for the youth department's summer reading program, Fizz, Boom, Read. The program focuses on increasing science, technology, engineering and mathematics book collections, while bringing those programs to the community.

The library, at 10700 Canterbury St., will also use the funds to provide parents, students and teachers with current titles about STEM topics.

Programs will include weekly programs for children from birth through eighth grade along with different hands-on activities and guest speakers.
