Lyons Township's Stefanie D'Anna sprints to first base during a game last season. D'Anna is one of a handful of seniors back in the mix for the Lions this spring.

Lyons Township has a mix of experience and youth, and coach Dawn Schabacker is hoping the team can put it together for a strong season.

Seniors Stefanie D'Anna, Katie Dzierwa, Kayla Morrissey and Leah Nunez are back in prominent roles. D'Anna will be the team's leadoff hitter while playing second base. Nunez will also play in the infield and Morrissey will be the backstop.

Dzierwa will step into a key role at pitcher after senior Ashley Koziol decided to play travel ball this spring. Junior Lindsey Arnston, sophomore Maggie Vacchiano and freshman Sapphire Munoz should also see some time in the circle.

"We have a really good core group, a young group," Schabacker said. "One team strength is we have a lot of versatility. These pitchers play other positions and are good athletes."

Three returners will play in the outfield in senior Allie Arnston and juniors Courtney Petrosius and Alexus Pelletiere.

Sophomores Riley Frisbie and Delanie Cruz will play infield. Frisbie played baseball at LT last year and is transitioning to softball this season. She also can play catcher.
