RIVERSIDE – The Riverside Police Department reported that a total of 34 Riverside residents have applied for a Concealed Carry License as of March 31.

A Concealed Carry License allows the owner to carry a concealed firearm in Illinois.

Each application requires the applicant to possess a valid Firearms Owner Identification (FOID) card, or to apply for a FOID card in conjunction with the Concealed Carry License to begin the application process.

Background checks are then conducted by Illinois State Police as local law enforcement reviews the applications for objections. The Concealed Carry License Review Board then has 30 days to review the information on an application that has not been statutorily denied.

More information about concealed carry can be found on the Illinois State Police website at www.isp.state.il.us/.
