Published: Sunday, April 6, 2014 5:30 a.m. CDT

WOODRIDGE – Heartland Blood Centers, a nonprofit, independent blood center serving 49 area hospitals, is supporting Donate Life Month in April.

National Donate Life Month was established in 2003 to raise public awareness of the critical need for organ, eye and tissue donation and to celebrate those who have saved lives through the gift of donation.

Heartland Blood Centers encourages all healthy community members, 16 years of age or older, to donate blood in the month of April.

Woodridge residents can donate blood from 1 to 4 p.m. at Cargill Food Distribution, 10420 Woodward Ave., on April 23. Walk-ins are welcome.
