The MWRD is tasked with protecting the water quality in the area, including the water of Lake Michigan and protecting businesses and homes from flooding.

Mary Carroll, community education specialist with the MWRD, will speak about the district's mission, history and how municipalities can get a handle on controlling rainwater runoff and overflowing streams to prevent flooding.
