Manning Elementary School students raise thousands during St. Jude 'Math-A-Thon'

WESTMONT – J.T. Manning Elementary School students recently raised $4,184 during the St. Jude Math-A-Thon.

Represented by students in grades two through five, the Manning Meteors participated in the Math-A-Thon in February, working on their arithmetic skills and simultaneously raising money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a leading research facility that strives to advance cures and means of prevention of pediatric diseases.

Beforehand, students gained sponsorship from friends and family.

Student received T-shirts and prizes as the "math-a-thon" progressed, and every participant earned a certificate, which will be distributed at the Manning Awards Ceremony on the final day of the school year.

For over 30 years, St. Jude Math-A-Thon has been America’s largest education-based fundraiser, according to the St. Jude website. It includes a free math curriculum supplement for middle and elementary schools throughout the United States.
