Woodridge police released this photo of the man suspected to have robbed a woman in a Jewel parking lot on Thursday.

WOODRIDGE – Woodridge police are looking for an armed robbery suspect who used a butcher knife to threaten a woman with two toddlers in her car in a Jewel parking lot.

Police said around 1:05 p.m. Thursday, a suspect described as 20 years old and 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10 approached the victim's van in the Jewel lot at 2317 W. 75th St. and entered the passenger seat before displaying "a large butcher knife."

The man then demanded money and an iPhone before telling her to drive to her bank, according to police. The woman had her 18-month-old and 3-year-old in the car with her, police said.

The suspect then exited the vehicle – before they reached the bank – in the vicinity of Boughton and Naperville/Plainfield roads. The victims were unharmed.

Police said the man was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and a scarf covering his face. His race was not identified.

Police are still investigating the incident and ask anyone with information to call Detective Hinton at 630-719-4735.
