Christine VanDeVelde to talk college admission at Glenbard West

GLEN ELLYN – Writer Christine VanDeVelde will present “Calming the Nerves: How to Survive the College Admission Process – from Application to Acceptance, Step by Step,” at 7 p.m. Thursday at Glenbard West High School, 670 Crescent Blvd., according to a news release from Glenbard Township High School District 87.

VanDeVelde's appearance is part of the district's Glenbard Parent Series.

She is the author of the bestseller, “College Admission: from Application to Acceptance. Step by Step.”

During the presentation, VanDeVelde will discuss:

• Finding schools

• What colleges are looking for

• High grades vs. tough courses

• Testing and extracurriculars

• Making a final decision

• Essay writing

• The role of parents in the application process
