North High School wins state high school journalism championship

Downers Grove North High School won the state championship at the IHSA Journalism State Conference on Friday in Charleston.

DOWNERS GROVE – Downers Grove North High School won the state championship at the IHSA Journalism State Conference on Friday in Charleston.

The team placed in six events: Nate Eisenhut won first in info graphics, Bruno Vernaschi placed first in sports writing, Rachel Krusenoski came in second in newspaper Design, Taylor Christensen took third in editorial writing, Nicole Williams placed third in review writing and Andy Osterling came in third in Broadcast News Writing.

Gaby Martinez and Katie Goldsmith are also members of the team.

Teachers Liz Levin and Kathy Smith are sponsors of the journalism team. The team also won at the IHSA sectional event in late April.
