We are so excited to host our third annual Ice Cream Social sponsored by the Friends of Fountaindale Library from 5 to 8 p.m. July 28. The library will be providing ice cream, games, MOPS performances, and activities for free. The Park District will be bringing the climbing wall and trackless train. Nancy’s Pizza, McDonald’s, and bd’s Mongolian Grill will also be offering tasty samples from their menus while supplies last.

Don’t forget to stop by the dunk tank where you can dunk our Executive Director Paul Mills! All proceeds from the dunk tank will go to the Friends of the Library.

You can also stay for the Lego Movie sponsored by the Bolingbrook Park District and Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital. The movie will start at 8:15 p.m./dusk. Concessions will be sold by Brooks Cafe during the movie. Please bring your own blankets or chairs. We hope to see you at the event.

One of my favorite things in the summer is the stars and the night sky. We are offering a program called Learning the Night Sky for Adults and Teens on Tuesday, July 22 at 7 p.m. Attendees will learn the basics to get started with night sky understanding, which includes a brief history of important astronomy figures, magnitudes and measurements, fun and memorable constellation mythology video.

As a parent, I am always looking for fun activities and learning opportunities for my child, especially in the summer when school is out. We are offering a Video Production Camp for Tweens, which is children in grades 4-6. The camp is from Monday, Aug. 4 until Thursday, Aug. 7. The kids will learn how to make their own movie in this four-day in-depth, hands-on workshop in our very own Studio 300. There are limited amount of spaces and these programs tend to fill quickly so reserve that spot. Registration opens July 14.

Another fun program you won’t want to miss with your kids is the Smarty Pants Big Balloon Show on Thursday, July 31 at 2 p.m. Everyone will love to see this unique, rollicking show that features magic, slapstick comedy, and the world’s biggest balloon props. This program will be at the Annerino Community Center located at 201 Recreation Drive, Bolingbrook. No registration required for the exciting event.
