Westmont police investigating reported armed robbery

WESMONT – Police are investigating an alleged armed robbery that occurred Thursday morning in Westmont, according to Westmont Police Sgt. Stephen Thompson.

At about 9:15 a.m. Thursday, police responded to the report of an armed robbery in the area of 76th Street and Aspen Lane. The victim alleges that an offender brandished a black, semi-automatic handgun and stole cash before fleeing on foot, according to Thompson.

The offender is described as a black male in his mid 20s, between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-11, weighing between 160 and 180 pounds, with black hair, a goatee, and tattoos of eyes on the top of his wrists. He was reportedly wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt and blue jean, Thompson said.

The offender was last seen running eastbound on 67th Street, according to Thompson.

The incident remains under investigation, and police are investigating several leads, Thompson said.
