Elmhurst singers win scholarships

ELMHURST – Spirito! Singers has awarded scholarships to two members of its Bravura women's concert, recording and touring ensemble.

Allie Moskal won the Dolores Stedman Shaheen Scholarship for Choral Excellence for $2,000 for displaying outstanding vocal achievement and dedication to the art of choral singing, according to a news release.

Moskal, of Elmhurst, will attend Western Michigan University in the fall and major in music therapy, the release said.

Camille Mulcahy won the Spirito! Commitment to Service, also worth $2,000, for displaying an outstanding commitment to community service.

Mulcahy, or Elmhurst, will attend the University of St. Thomas in the fall and major in health sciences, according to the release.

Spirito! Singers will sing the national anthem at the Chicago White Sox vs. Detroit Tigers game Aug. 30 at U.S. Cellular Field. Tickets are available at www.spiritosingers.org.
