HINSDALE – The Hinsdale Police Department made six drunk-driving arrests and issued 74 seat belt citations during the Independence Day Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket crackdown, according to a press release from the Hinsdale Police Department.

The Police Department also issued 34 speeding citations, eight citations for illegal cell phone use while driving, six citations for operating an uninsured vehicle and 64 other citations, according to the release.

The Fourth of July initiatives were part of a statewide effort to get drunk drivers off the road and to encourage seat belt use, the release stated.

Extra focus was put on the late-night hours when statistics show the highest number of motorists drink and drive, while the fewest buckle their seat belts, according to the release.
