Plainfield mother cited for leaving infant in car

Published: Thursday, July 31, 2014 10:56 p.m. CDT

JOLIET – A Plainfield woman allegedly told police she forgot her infant daughter was sleeping in the car while she went to shop at Wal-Mart.

Capt. Tab Jensen said police were called about 5 p.m. Tuesday after a passerby noticed the baby in an unattended white Ford Escape parked outside the store at 1401 Route 59.

Jensen said an officer arrived and opened the door to find the child unharmed. Patricia Silvar, 36, came out about five minutes later.

“She told the officer she’d forgotten her daughter was with her,” Jensen said. Silvar, of the 7000 block of Boxwood Lane, was given a compliance ticket.

Jensen said Silvar’s daughter was returned to her, but police did notify the Department of Children and Family Services about the incident.
