Hinsdale police plan Labor Day crackdown

Published: Monday, Aug. 11, 2014 1:46 p.m. CDT

HINSDALE – The Hinsdale Police Department will engage in a "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” during the nights leading up to Labor Day, Aug. 15 to Sept. 1.

A late night crackdown is being used because late-night drivers are statistically shown to consist more frequently of impaired drivers and seat belt law violators, emphasizing the disproportionate number of traffic deaths occurring during the night, according to a Hinsdale Police Department news release.

The data shows that the hours between midnight and 3 a.m. have the highest percentage of alcohol involvement and the lowest occupant restraint use, the release stated

The Hinsdale Police Department recommends designating a sober driver and not letting friends and family drive impaired, according to the release.
