St. Mary of Gostyn officials know technology is key when it comes to staying connected to your parish. Parish Administrator Mike Ryan recently shared some information about how technology is used at the parish.

Question: What technology is available? How is it utilized at your parish? Answer: St. Mary of Gostyn (SMG) relies on technology in many ways. We utilize it as a communication tool in our faith community. Our website allows posting of current news and events and provides new parishioner registration and payment for our many special events, like the 5K, annual Golf Outing, Endowment Dinner Dance, etc. SMG also has a Facebook page and a Parish app. We have partnered with technology service providers to handle donations and tuition.

Question: What is new in parish technology? Answer: SMG’s newest partner is “One Parish,” an app that provides spiritual and faith sharing information, a platform for ministries to connect, tithing capabilities and will eventually provide calendaring capabilities. Last year, we added a separate server for the school with strict and stringent internet access.

Question: Why is technology important to the parish? Answer: SMG has implemented and installed systems that have added efficiencies for parishioners and school families, for notices, recordkeeping, tuition/fee payments, event participation and stewardship to name just a few. Technology also increases efficiency and productivity for our staff.

Question: Tell me about the Technology Committee. Answer: SMG is very excited about the rollout of our Technology Committee. It enables us to draw on the many diverse technological talents of our parishioners and school families. We will utilize their talents to provide the technological environment necessary to enhance our school and all ministries within our parish.
