Earth Day is a great time to evaluate ways that we can be better stewards of our planet.

At the Westmont Public Library, we take conservation seriously. One way residents can help us use fewer resources is by making use of our Friends of the Westmont Library book sale and donation system. Here is how it works:

Recycle

Your donations of lightly used books, DVDs and CDs help to stretch the library’s budget. Some of the donated materials are added to the collection which means the library spends less money buying new items. More importantly, the funds we receive when people purchase these donated materials helps raise money for library programs, reducing our dependence on tax dollars to improve services and programs for the community.

Reduce

Anyone who visits the library lobby knows the book sale area is always well-stocked with a variety of interesting items. Residents can grab a book, movie or CD for an incredibly low cost and reduce their dependence on new items.

Reuse

This is where Westmont Library shines. Every year, the library adds 10,500 new items through donations and purchases. You, our patrons, check them out and return them. This year we are poised to break 280,000 check-outs.

Thank you residents of Westmont for continuing to show how much you care about the Earth by using the library and supporting our efforts to reduce, reuse and recycle.

Happy Earth Day!
