Village council to work from short agenda on election night

Published: Tuesday, April 9, 2013 6:01 a.m. CDT

DOWNERS GROVE — The Downers Grove Village Council will work from a short agenda at its regular meeting Tuesday night. The meeting begins at 7 p.m., the same time polls close in the municipal election.

Fourteen items are on the consent agenda, including several infrastructure and construction items that had first-readings at the meeting last week.

Two items are on the active agenda, both of which were discussed last week. The first is an ordinance that would allow non-residential buildings like schools and churches in residentially-zoned areas to build front-yard fences.

The second item amends the fiscal year budget for 2012 to reflect the actual amount of taxes the village received, and the actual amount of expenses. Actual expenses were less than the budget by $40,000. Revenues were greater than the budget by $1.97 million, according to village documents.

Amending the budget by ordinance to reflect actual revenues and expenses is required by state law. There are no items listed in the agenda for first readings.
