McQ's Sports Dome in Bolingbrook to open OTB Monday

BOLINGBROOK – After a favorable litigation followed by months of construction, McQ's Sports Bar and Dome is ready to unveil its new off-track betting facility.

Three months ago, on Jan. 8, the Bolingbrook Village Board voted unanimously to pave the way for Hawthorne Racecourse, Inc. to add one of its signature off-track betting lounges inside the sports bar. Both sides spent the last 90 days renovating a 2,000-square foot space opposite the bar and restaurant, installing leather couches and chairs, TVs and a full bar.

Hawthorne is paying McQ’s to rent the space, and also covered furniture and electronics costs. McQ’s funded the physical remodel and renovation.

On Monday, the Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony, officially opening the OTB for business. From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., McQ's owner Jim McWethy and Hawthorne CEO Jeffrey Kras will greet patrons and answer any questions.

On Saturday, the McQ's OTB will host a party for the Kentucky Derby featuring live music, food and drink specials, raffles and prize drawings.
