LEMONT – Parents of students attending Oakwood and River Valley schools received a notification from District 113A officials Sunday evening regarding a bomb threat written on an exterior wall at Oakwood.

The threat indicated that Oakwood will be bombed Tuesday, according to the notification.

Lemont police will be present Monday and Tuesday mornings at Oakwood and River Valley schools. Law enforcement will also sweep the buildings before allowing staff and students entry. School officials intend to increase hallway supervision and bag checks in the coming days as a precautionary measure.

Police are investigating the threat and have concluded that it is not credible and recommend staff and students follow their regular schedule.

Officials will continue to monitor the situation.
