DOWNERS GROVE – Downers Grove police have a suspect in custody for the April 18 burglary of Dariusz Jewelers, police announced Monday.

On Thursday, Downers Grove detectives, the FIAT SWAT team and Chicago Police Department SWAT team members executed a search warrant at Darrell M. Sims' apartment in Chicago. Police said proceeds from the burglary were recovered from the residence.

Sims, 45, of 3620 S. Rhodes Ave., Chicago, was charged with burglary at 5:50 a.m. that day at his residence.

Police allege that on April 18, Sims entered Dariusz Jewelers, 5121 Main St., by breaking the glass out of the front door. About $107,000 worth of jewelry was taken.

Chicago Police tipped Downers Grove detectives on to possible suspects, and further investigation pointed to Sims, police said.
