Driver flees the scene of an SUV rollover in Brookfield

BROOKFIELD – A La Grange Park resident was cited for leaving the scene of an accident Sunday after his SUV rolled over in the 3900 block of Prairie Avenue, police said.

Jose Mendoza, 36, reportedly told police that he "lost it" when he learned his girlfriend was cheating on him. At about 2:14 p.m. Sunday, his Infiniti rolled over. He crawled out of the car and fled the scene southbound of Prairie Avenue, police said.

Officers found Mendoza hiding in a garage, police said. He reportedly told them that he ran because his license was suspended. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, improper lane usage, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, driving while license suspended and driving an uninsured vehicle, accordin to police reports.
