DOWNERS GROVE – The 2013 Festival of Cars returns to Downers Grove on June 23 for its 30th year.

It opens at 8 a.m. and closes at 3 p.m.

Open to the public, the show displays cars of all types, including classics, street rods, 4x4 trucks, and later-year tuners. It is an opportunity for the residents of Downers Grove and surrounding communities to show off their prized cars.

Also returning this year, the general public can vote for their favorite car in the "People’s Choice" by making a $1 donation to the Rotary for a voting ballot.

Highlights of the Festival of Cars include an awards presentation based upon participant choice voting. Trophies are presented for Best of Show, Pierce Downer Award, and the Mayor’s Award, as well three awards for each of 20 car classes.

Participants also receive a dash plaque, goodie bags for the first 200 entrants, and door prizes.

Dennis Secara of DJ Big Bopper Service and owner of a 1957 Chevy will provide music throughout the show.

The Festival of Cars is open to the public at no charge. Participants pay an entrance fee of $20.

Early registrations received by June 15 will receive a commemorative T-shirt.
