Power restored at Sunset Pool in Glen Ellyn

Published: Tuesday, June 25, 2013 7:38 a.m. CDT

GLEN ELLYN – Glen Ellyn Park District's Sunset Pool reopened at 1 p.m. June 24, after losing power June 23.

The pool had lost electricity around 5 p.m. as it was closing, said Kathleen Esposito, superintendent of recreation.

The power outage was due to storms in the area that left others in the neighborhood without electricity as well, Esposito said.

Power was restored at about 10:30 a.m. June 24, but staff had to balance chemicals in the pool before it could be reopened, she said. The power outage caused pumps that automatically feed chemicals into the pool and circulate water to turn off.

All activities scheduled for after 1 p.m. June 24 at Sunset Pool, located at 483 Fairview Ave., were expected to continue as planned, Esposito said.
