LOMBARD – The DuPage County Health Department approved the reopening of Los Burritos Mexicanos, 1015 W. St. Charles Road, last week. The business was closed June 14 after several people became sick after eating at the restaurant, according to a statement from the health department.

In all, 31 cases of E. coli were reported by people who had eaten at the restaurant, and several were hospitalized, according to the health department. Although the business was closed during the health department's investigation, no results were found that would require it to remain closed.

E. coli is a bacteria that causes diarrhea and other severe abdominal symptoms. Most healthy adults are able to recover within a few days so many of the cases go unreported.
