WESTMONT – Police say a suspect has been identified and is being sought for allegedly firing a gun at a group of people in Westmont on Friday evening.

Around 6:15 p.m. Friday, the suspect allegedly fired a gun from a vehicle in the 0-100 block of East Chicago Avenue. No one was struck or injured in the incident, according to Westmont Sgt. Stephen Thompson.

Thompson said police believe a specific group of people was targeted in the incident, though it is not believed to be gang-related. Evidence at the scene confirmed a gun was fired, he added.

As of Tuesday afternoon, police were trying to locate the suspect, but a warrant had not yet been issued, Thompson said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Westmont Police Department tip line at 630-981-6310.
