Carol Stream traffic safety campaign yields more than 200 tickets

CAROL STREAM – The Carol Stream Police Department's July 4th Holiday Mobilization and Road Side Safety Checkpoint campaign ended July 7, according to a news release from the department.

Throughout the campaign, which began June 28, officers removed 22 impaired drivers and 36 drivers without a valid driver's license. The department also gave out 160 speeding tickets, 45 seat belt tickets and seven tickets for texting while driving.

The Carol Stream Police Department conducted a road side safety checkpoint on North Avenue July 5. Nine impaired driving were arrested and 21 unlicensed drivers were removed. The total number of vehicles to pass through the checkpoint was 450.
