Althoff: Lisle Chamber's summer events capped with first-ever 'Ale Fest'

Published: Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013 10:48 a.m. CDT

This month, there is the flurry of final weeks of vacation before the beginning of the new school year, and the retail businesses seem to feed off of the last full month of summer to have the end of season or back to school sales.

We look forward to final summer activities such as our Member Appreciation Picnic and the Cruise Night at the end of the month.

The picnic is an enjoyable get together for Chamber members and potential members. With over 100 people in attendance, it is a great time to network with those you haven’t seen over the summer or have a chance to “check out” the Lisle Chamber.

We are proud of what we do with our participation in a successful Eyes to the Skies event, and our extremely fun golf outing at Seven Bridges Golf Club. I salute our members for their tremendous commitment to volunteerism. We are truly fortunate to have these people who stand by us.

We also want to give a congratulatory shout out to Kim Schiller, Director of Finance for the village of Lisle who recently won an award as Outstanding CFO in the public sector presented by the Business Ledger.

Kim truly is one of a kind who has managed the finances is good times and bad and kept the village of Lisle as a financially solvent entity.

We also want to announce a new event in Lisle that will be Sept. 28.

It will be the first Lisle Ale Fest. This beer tasting event will feature 40 craft brewers each offering two beers. There will be a limited number of VIP tickets plus regular admission and designated driver tickets, which will allow for complimentary soft drinks and water.

We are excited about this new event occurring in downtown Lisle and feel it will provide another opportunity to showcase the Lisle Chamber community.

Information is available at lislealefest.com.

Have a great rest of the summer, and travel safely.
